Analysis of Human and Animal Samples

We serve researchers across diverse disciplines, analysing human and animal samples, tissue and cell culture supernatants.

Multiplex Immunoassay

Bio-Plex: Luminex® xMAP™  technology.

Simultaneous detection and quantitation of cytokines, chemokines, growth factors and various other proteins.

Testing specific analytes from well-known suppliers for diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular, diabetes, hormonal disorder, inflammation, cell signalling, kidney toxicity, acute phase, isotyping, and others.

Comprehensive Metabolic Panels

Conventional clinical testing including general chemistry, proteins and serology using clinical chemistry analysers.

Clinical Immunoassays

Conventional clinical Immunoassays for hormones, other proteins, and vitamins using a Clinical Immunoassay Analyser.

Remote Small Sample Collection and Analysis

Finger-prick kits enable research participants to collect blood independently at home or in the office in a few minutes.

Our Approach

Tailored Flexibility

Custom solutions for complex needs.

Unparalleled Client Support

End-to-end servicing, no matter the project size.

Precision and Quality Assurance

Fully calibrated instrumentation and processes.

Engage our services in three different ways

Collect and send your biological samples to our laboratory for analysis.
Use our finger-prick kits to collect blood samples remotely without a phlebotomist.
Enquire about the possibility of using blood samples available in our biobank for your project.

Our Instrumentation

Our laboratory's high-throughput instrumentation is well-maintained, calibrated and regularly serviced by the manufacturer. It includes a Bioplex 200 for Multiplex Immunoassays, Beckman Coulter Access 2 for Clinical Immunoassays and Chemistry Analyser DXC700 AU for metabolic panel analysis.

Accreditation

Drop Bio Health offers industry-leading precision and accuracy across a wide range of services.
Our Laboratory Information Management System, eLabNext, is fully equipped to handle highly sensitive data and sample tracking.
Our multiplex immunoassay procedure is proudly accredited by the Australian Laboratory Accreditation Body ( to ISO 17025 standards. The scope of accreditation can be found on the ALAB website, accreditation number 22-3767.
Drop Bio Health’s exclusive remote blood sample collection kit is manufactured according to ISO 13485 requirements. The kits are medical devices listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) registry (ID:371291).
The laboratory activities also comply with ISO 9001, 14971, 17043 and 13485 standards.

Remote Small Blood Sample Collection and Analysis

Our exclusive at-home finger-prick kits enable independent blood collection. Each kit contains easy-to-follow instructions and all consumables needed for participants to collect and mail their own samples to our laboratory at the University of New South Wales. Its consumables accommodate plasma collection (EDTA, Heparin).
The kits are monitored with sensors for sample quality control and correction of downstream test results to account for the effects of transit - our laboratory is able to perform sample degradation assessments and blood fractionation on finite sample volume. Kit ordering and fulfilment can be fully customised to the needs of each research project.
Our team of research experts can also design custom patient management and survey tools to fit specific project requirements and monitor participant demographics and recruitment targets, including electronic consent, questionnaires, automated and personalised emails and reminders, with all data exported to the researcher as required.

Technique Overview

Characteristics

Multiplex Immunoassay

Comprehensive Metabolic Panels

Clinical Immunoassays

Principle
Uses bead-based multiplex assays to simultaneously measure multiple targets in a single small sample volume.
Spectrophotometry and potentiometry assay principles are used for analysis using colorimetry, turbidimetry, latex agglutination and indirect ISE system.
Antibody-coupled magnetic microparticles-based immunoassay that utilizes the same sandwich principles as traditional ELISAs. The Access 2 uses enzyme-mediated chemiluminescence, which is a chemical reaction in which one of the end products is the emission of light. The light emitted is measured in Relative Light Units (RLU).
Sensitivity
Lower sensitivity. Typically used to measure low to medium concentrations of biomolecules (low pico gram/ml concentration).
Highly sensitive. Varies between test menus.
Highly sensitive. Varies between test menus.
Multiplexing
Specifically designed for multiplexing. It can measure up to 100 targets in a single sample.
Analyse one sample at a time, but with up to 150 samples loaded at once.
Analyses one sample at a time, but with up to 60 samples loaded at once.
Minimum Sample Volumes
15 to 50 µL/sample.
1.0 μL-25 μL/per test.
10 μL-55 μL/per test.
Automation
Highly automated, with a robotic system that can handle large numbers of samples.
Fully automated, random-access clinical chemistry system with STAT capability. 800 photometric tests per hour, up to 1,200 with ISE.
Fully automated, up to 100 tests per hour.
